“What a journey! Thank you for creating a safe environment for us to find our buffoons and explore! I have been recommending the course to friends all day!” Lee Ann Keple, Vancouver, Canada Actors…Discover your Inner Truth! A 2 Day Buffoonery Workshop with Trilby Jeeves Are you “director proof?” Would you like another acting tool? Buffoonery is a route for film and theatre actors to use to discover authentic, believable
and committed performances.
What is a Buffoon? Based on
the teachings of Jacques Lecoq of Paris, the “Le
Boufon” is an exploration of
the ironies, and absurdities of human existence. The Buffoon comes from another world, perhaps the inner world of the planet. Its grotesque appearance liberates its character to mock, imitate, and laugh at the rituals of the human being, and get away with it. His opinion is made clear through his large, exaggerated gestures. Mimicry is his ultimate pleasure. But this isn’t about becoming a clown…
Buffoonery is one of the best ways to break through a stiff, conscientious performance to one of un-distracted commitment. You will develop a tool for creating well-rounded characters with minimal information. You will have a chance to exercise the wholeness in your being from the top of your head to the tip of your toes. And, have FUN!! “Mediocre
Performance is not characteristic of the Buffoon.
“Au contraire” A Buffoon’s performance is completely and utterly involved.” Trilby Jeeves Great tool for rehearsing auditions and performances!! You
will learn to develop your buffoon through a series of exercises using
your own physicality. Eventually, you will
“Buffoon” a prepared scene or
monologue in order to make unexpected, honest
discoveries
that will feed your work. In taking a short scene to it’s
exaggerated level you will have a tool for “getting out of
the
head and into the body”.

Jeeves is a fantastic acting teacher! Very supportive, fun, great
energy."
Jane Bockman, Vancouver, Canada Who is Trilby Jeeves and why should I Buffoon with her? Trilby
Jeeves was the first English student to be theatrically trained in her
second language for 3 years at Le Conservatoire d’Art
Dramatique
in Quebec City. Her class of eight students followed the teachings of
Marc Dore and Paule Savard (who studied at Lecoq in Paris), Jacques
Lessard who created the “REPERE” method of creating
work,
with Robert LePage, Jean Guy, Denise Gagnon, and Yves Erik Marrier.
She went on to perform in both languages, starting at the Victoria Playhouse in Prince Edward Island which also saw her directing debut of “Ned and Jack” by Sheldon Rosen. With stops in Fredericton and Montreal, she eventually came back to Vancouver and worked with Theatre La Seizieme, The Raymond Burr Theatre and other smaller companies. In between working as a costumer in the film industry, Trilby directed “Les Monologues du Vagin” two years running as well as teaching improvisation and buffoonery en francais, throughout schools in B.C. "It was so fun and liberating; I
felt like I could breath again.
Trilby was very supportive, encouraging, and enthusiastic." Cheryl Murray, Vancouver, Canada To find out more information about this workshop and the next available dates: Contact: Trilby Jeeves 604-922-3744 trilby@telus.net Trilby Jeeves All Rights Reserved |
